I'm back with the 12th edition of "Hot Music For Cheap Hotels", a session about sultry downtempo and dirty dirty electro. This contains a great cover of Chris Issak's "Wicked Game", Little Dragon, a great remix of Class Actress, and more. This session also includes my newest favorite British vocalist "Jessie Ware". I heard her in Los Angeles one late night on KCRW while driving back home through Echo Park to Los Feliz.
I was immediately in love. Jessie Ware hones on those soft slow jazz and R&B elements that Sade forged through in the 80's and 90's. She slips her voice elegantly through her songs, and tip toes her lyrics around in dizzying arrays throughout the album. While she's most known for her vocals on SBTRKT and Joker, her album titled "DEVOTION" survives VERY well as a foundation for her solo career. Check out her site at www.jessieware.com.
